CAMOOWEAL 2D 2019 Seismic Survey

The Camooweal 2D seismic survey was conducted in 2019 by the Geological Survey of Queensland. Its primary aim was to image the sedimentary basins underlying the Camooweal area, the Isa Superbasin, South Nicholson and Georgina basins and to give insight into the regions crustal architecture. It was acquired as a deep survey to 20 seconds TWT. This survey was funded by the Strategic Resources Exploration Program (SREP) of the Queensland Government, which focusses on the energy and mineral potential of North West Queensland. The seismic survey ties into the South Nicholson Basin seismic survey acquired in 2017 by Geoscience Australia, which imaged potentially gas-bearing formations within the Isa Superbasin. The Camooweal survey, examines the potential of these gas bearing formations to continue south into an area lacking seismic data coverage. The survey also images a previously unknown sub-basin to the south-east of Camooweal.
